Funny how everyone wants to "do it gently" and "not offend anyone," right?

We tack a polite "with all due respect" onto our sentences before we dare say a thing. We wrap the unyielding truth of the Gospel in five layers of spiritualized bubble wrap just to ensure nobody feels a ripple of discomfort.

Some of us have gotten so masterfully efficient at saying what the room wants to hear, that we’ve entirely buried what God actually needs us to say.

But today, as women, and daughters of the Most High, I want us to look right at the truth without the soft-focus filters. Listen to how Jesus puts it in Luke 6:26 (MSG):

"There’s trouble ahead when you live only for the approval of others, saying what flatters you, doing what panders to you. Everyone trips over themselves to agree with you, praising you or flattering you back through the decades. The old-time prophets also patsies of popularity."

Oof. I know, right?

Jesus isn't whispering that. He isn't softening the edges or looking for a focus group's sign-off. He’s laying it out plain.

Sister, living for the approval of the crowd is a heavy, bone-weary exhaustion. When your yes and your no depend entirely on who is watching, clapping in the pews, across the boardroom table, or in the comments section, you stop setting people free and start flattering them instead. You begin indulging the current of the culture rather than confronting it with the fierce, anchoring grace of God's reality.

And Jesus says, trouble ahead. Because the moment you make a career out of chasing popularity, you inevitably back yourself into a corner where you have to choose between God’s voice and the crowd's applause. The false prophets of old were popular, too. The voices that whispered sweet rationalizations to a drifting people? Everyone loved them, right up until the foundation cracked and the storm arrived. But you and I? We aren’t called to be copy-paste Christians, curating our faith for an aesthetic. We are called to be daughters.

A daughter doesn’t perform for her Father's love; she speaks from the security of it. Even when it is deeply unpopular. Even when it costs you the invite, the partnership, or the chorus of affirmation, as Christian women, as professionals, and as leaders navigating complex spaces, truth without love is harsh. But love without truth isn't love at all; it’s just fear dressed up in polite language.

So here is our daily assignment for today, and it is beautifully simple, be true, not popular. True to the Word when the modern timeline demands compromise. True to what God whispered in the secret place when the room is shouting for something else. True to the woman He created you to be, even if your voice shakes while you speak it.

Can I encourage your heart today? When you finally lay down the heavy burden of manufacturing approval, God takes care of the rest. He sees the quiet obedience, He validates the unseen sacrifice, He looks at you and simply calls you daughter. You don’t need the whole room to nod in agreement. You just need to be faithful to the One who called your name.

Today, lay down the pressure to be liked. Pick up the profound, terrifying freedom to be real.

Your assignment was never to be popular; your assignment is to be true.
